This 2-day weekend course (taught off-site at Bridgetown Forge) teaches the fundamentals of the craft; drawing out, bending, cutting, splitting, twisting and riveting. Each student will make and take home a variety of items, such as ornamental hooks, square-cut nails, a fire poker, and a candleholder. Class runs from 9:30-4pm on each day.

All classes will be held at Bridgetown Forge in North Portland, right off the Columbia Blvd exit of I-5. Bridgetown Forge is a fully equipped smithy, over 4000 sq ft in size. It features not only traditional anvils and forges, but also modern equipment such as pneumatic power hammers, tig welders and hydraulic presses. The showroom has many samples of forge work, ranging from sculpture to railings, hardware and knives.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:

Arnon practices and teaches the ergonomic forging method, as taught by Master Blacksmith Uri Hofi (http://www.uri-hofi.co.il/) of Israel. This method allows for very fast and accurate forging, while minimizing stress on the joints and muscles. This method is easy to learn, and makes the whole experience of smithing more enjoyable.
